Gravity Academy Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy

1. Purpose

This policy establishes guidelines for the protection, use, and management of intellectual property at Gravity Academy, including but not limited to logos, curricula, didactics, images, philosophy, and the unique atmosphere cultivated within the academy. By safeguarding the academy’s creative outputs, we aim to foster innovation while ensuring proper acknowledgment of contributions.


2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  1. Logos and Branding Materials:
    • All visual identifiers of Gravity Academy, including the logo, taglines, and design elements.
  2. Curriculum and Didactics:
    • Original course materials, syllabi, teaching frameworks (e.g., Gravity Pedagogy), and educational resources.
  3. Images and Media:
    • Photographs, illustrations, animations, videos, and digital content produced for or within the academy.
  4. Philosophy and Conceptual Frameworks:
    • The core ideas, values, and theoretical approaches developed for Gravity Academy, including its focus on “The Universe in Solidarity.”
  5. Atmosphere and Institutional Identity:
    • The unique cultural and aesthetic environment cultivated at the academy.

3. Ownership and Rights

  1. Institutional Ownership:
    • Intellectual property created by Gravity Academy staff or contractors within the scope of their roles belongs to the academy unless explicitly stated otherwise in a prior agreement.
  2. Collaborative Works:
    • Jointly created works between the academy and external collaborators will have shared ownership, with terms clearly outlined in a written agreement.
  3. Student Creations:
    • Students retain ownership of their original work but grant Gravity Academy a non-exclusive license to showcase their projects for promotional or educational purposes.

4. Use of Gravity Academy Intellectual Property

  1. Permission Requirements:
    • Written consent from the academy is required to use logos, branding, curriculum, or media in any external setting, commercial or non-commercial.
  2. Prohibited Uses:
    • Misrepresentation or misuse of academy content that conflicts with its philosophy and values.
    • Unauthorized reproduction or adaptation of copyrighted materials.
  3. Limited Licensing for Collaborations:
    • Partnerships may be granted limited, revocable licenses for specific projects aligned with the academy’s mission.

5. Protection and Enforcement

  1. Copyright Registration:
    • All original content, including the logo, curricula, and media, will be registered under international copyright laws for robust legal protection.
  2. Monitoring and Reporting Infringements:
    • The academy will actively monitor the use of its intellectual property. Suspected misuse should be reported to the designated copyright compliance team.
  3. Legal Action:
    • Gravity Academy reserves the right to pursue legal remedies for unauthorized use, distribution, or alteration of its intellectual property.

6. External Contributions and Licenses

7. Visual Identity Standards

    • Photographs and media depicting the academy’s spaces should convey the intended philosophical and aesthetic ethos.

    • Annual training for staff, students, and collaborators on intellectual property rights and ethical use of content.

    • A repository of policies, guidelines, and resources for proper content use and copyright adherence.

9. Revision and Updates

This policy will be reviewed every two years to address emerging challenges, technological advancements, and shifts in intellectual property laws.
